About.me: WTF?

Today I tried to contact someone a trusted friend referred me to. My friend had given me the link to the fellow’s About.me page.

A page on which I could find no telephone number. No email address. (Forget about a snail-mail address.)

When I clicked his About.me page’s Email Me button…
About.me Email- Box
…I was given the opportunity to send him a message — if I either:

  • joined About.me;
  • allowed About.me to access my Facebook public profile, friend list and email address
    About.me Facebook Link
  • or authorized About.me to use my Twitter account.

Is it just me, or is anyone else annoyed by this kind of crapola?

(Yes, I could find the fellow’s other social networks. That appears to be the raison d’ĂȘtre of About.me. And I did eventually click over to his Twitter account and send him a mention tweet.)
