Oil Changes, Gutter Cleaning, and Web-site Content Maintenance
Not maintaining a blog (or some similar ever-growing repository of chronologically-based, keyword-rich, potentially useful information) on your Web site is the new not having a Web site.

People say "I know I should be adding content to my Web site regularly, and I know that a blog would do the trick, but I just don't have the time."

To these people I ask:

Has your car ever had an oil change?

Have your gutters ever been cleaned?

Has your lawn ever been mowed?

Have your carpets ever been shampooed?

Has your roof ever been replaced?

And have you ever paid anyone to do any of those things for you?

My father used to say, "People can always find the time to do things they want to do."

Similarly, many people find the money to pay for things they want or need — i.e., important things.

Could you find someone to ghost-write blog entries for you? Sure.

Would you have to pay a lot of money? In this economy, surely not.

If CraigsList isn't your cup of tea, maybe one of your daughter's 735 Facebook friends majored in English or Journalism or Communications and is looking for a few bucks.

If and when you really believe that enhancing your online presence with a steady stream of keyword-rich content is important, you'll find the time or money to get it done.
